Kedrion Biopharma is seeking a Bioanalytical Senior Project Scientist to join the Research & Development department located on-site in Elstree, Hertfordshire as part of the Kedrion Global Manufacturing, Science and Development Group (GMSD).
This role involves working closely with other R&D departments particularly the Bioprocessing team, other onsite departments such as Quality, Production, Technical Services, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical as well as other Kedrion sites within the Global Manufacturing Science and Development Group.

Duties & Responsibilities:
To Support and Manage Approved Development Projects
• Ensure project work is prioritised in line with company goals and targets.
• Plan resource allocation in collaboration with other Senior Project Scientists, Lead Scientists and Group Heads.
• Develop and optimise new analytical methods.
• Design and plan experimental studies compliant with GLP/GMP/SLP as required.
• Collaborate with external and internal customers and suppliers.
• Present regular progress updates at an appropriate level.
• Contribute to budget planning and forecasting for group and projects.
To Provide Expert Product and Process Support
• Provide expert advice on any or all of; analytical methods, products and processes.
• Support activities in QC, production, QA, regulatory, marketing and clinical as required.
• Contribute to the compliance status of KEDRION through the change control process; QR investigations; audit support etc.
• Contribute to the regulatory activities through understanding and support of product licences and licence variations, quality product review etc.
• To provide expert support to the department and to KEDRION in the form of presentations, training etc.
• To keep up to date with developments in industry and to represent KEDRION at conferences and seminars.
To Develop and Support Staff
• Effectively manage direct reports and matrix manage staff on key projects through regular team and individual meetings.
• Identify and develop staff expertise.
• Recruit Project Scientists, Research Scientists and Scientists.
• Support staff development and career progression.
• Carry out staff performance review and set SMART targets.
• Ensure self and staff comply with Health & Safety requirements.
• Ensure staff comply with GLP/GMP/SLP as required.
Skills & experience to help you within the role –
• BSc, MSc or other relevant post-graduate qualification in Biochemical/Biological Sciences, or PhD in a biochemical or biological science Educated or experienced to a level that allows the candidate to take on an expert role within projects
• Extensive experience of analytical methods such as plate based assays including ELISAs and chromogenic assays, gel electrophoresis, analytical chromatography and/or specific analytical equipment such as automated protein analysers, coagulation analysers etc
• Proven management and development of staff
• Good verbal and written communication
• Good interpersonal skills for liaising both within and between project teams
• Self-motivated and innovative
• Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and complete tasks
• Self-organised with an ability to manage people
• Record keeping including software applications
• Evidence of training others
• Extensive knowledge and lab experience of protein purification & chromatography OR protein characterisation and analysis
• Management of laboratory work, techniques & staff
• Knowledge of the Pharma or plasma industry and preferably GMP
• Experimental and study design, with practical experience of data analysis and statistics
• Experience of H&S working with biological materials
