Job Summary
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving the mean time to repair (MTTR) by driving the efficiency of execution. This involves building a comprehensive catalogue of detailed maintenance plans, which include step-by-step instructions, safety protocols, and necessary tools and parts. By staging parts and tools in advance, the planner ensures that technicians have everything they need at their fingertips, reducing delays and enhancing the speed and quality of repairs. Through these efforts, the planner not only supports the immediate needs of the maintenance team but also contributes to the long-term reliability and performance of the facility's critical systems and equipment.
What you'll do
- Asset Management: Develop and maintain a detailed maintenance catalogue for all facility systems, focusing on process equipment and pharmaceutical utilities.
- Job Preparation: Ensure all parts, tools, and materials are pre-staged and available for technicians prior to task commencement.
- Workflow Optimization: Manage a balanced backlog of planned work while minimizing unplanned tasks to ensure operational stability.
- Shutdown Leadership: Lead the planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities for facility shutdowns.
- Scheduling Support: Collaborate with the Maintenance Scheduler and provide coverage/support for the maintenance organization during absences.
- BOM Development: Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for each task, detailing all required components and tools.
- Documentation: Maintain rigorous records of all activities, including dates, specific tasks performed, and parts utilized.
- Prioritization: Create and review PM/CM work orders based on equipment criticality and operational priorities.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular reviews of completed work orders for accuracy and compliance, providing feedback for process improvement.
- Data Analysis: Identify recurring issues and trends within work order data to develop action plans that enhance maintenance effectiveness.
- Stock Management: Partner with onsite spare parts vendors to manage inventory levels and ensure critical components are always available.
- Procurement Liaison: Coordinate with procurement teams to order, receive, and stock supplies while maintaining precise inventory transaction records.
- Vendor Relations: Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials.
- Process Innovation: Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline planning and execution efficiency.
- Reliability Strategies: Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM).
- Performance Metrics: Develop and track KPIs to evaluate maintenance performance and drive data-driven operational excellence.
- Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FDA regulations, GMP standards, and EHS protocols.
- Audit Support: Provide comprehensive documentation, equipment manuals, and regulatory records to support inspections and audits.
- CAPA Management: Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to resolve compliance deficiencies identified during inspections.
- Technical Support: Train maintenance personnel on planning tools and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Skill Assessment: Assist in evaluating the technical skills of technicians to identify professional development and training opportunities.
Qualifications and need-to-know
- Associate Degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications or professional training are also preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and experience with maintenance planning software.
- Experience with CMRP or Six Sigma methodologies preferred, but not essential.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Pay Range: $85,000.00-$100,000.00
