Job Summary

Kedrion BioPharma UK is seeking a Multi Skilled Technician to join our Engineering team at our Elstree site. Reporting to the Engineering Shift Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, repairing and improving pharmaceutical production and utility equipment to support safe, compliant and efficient manufacturing operations. Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams, you will use your technical expertise to support both planned and reactive maintenance activities, minimise downtime and drive continuous improvement.
 
Hours - double-day shift pattern (Monday to Friday 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm) 

What you'll do

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, repair, calibration and set-up of pharmaceutical production and utility equipment in line with GMP requirements and site standards.
  • Support and maintain critical utilities and process systems, including HVAC, purified water systems, cleanroom equipment, filling lines, compressed air systems and associated production equipment.Diagnose faults and perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting activities to restore equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Apply engineering safety procedures including LOTO, isolation processes, permits and safe systems of work.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately, including work orders, calibration records, logbooks and CMMS entries.
  • Provide technical engineering support to Production, QA and Capital Projects teams as required.
  • Participate in root cause investigations, continuous improvement initiatives and reliability programmes to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate engineering activities during planned maintenance and unplanned breakdowns, maintaining a calm and methodical approach under pressure.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with health & safety legislation, GMP standards and site procedures.
  • Maintain training records and support regulatory and operational compliance requirements.

Qualifications and need-to-know

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline, or a completed engineering apprenticeship with relevant industry experience
  • Experience working within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrable hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance experience on production equipment and site utilities.
  • Experience fault finding on equipment incorporating motors, drives, conveyors, sensors and associated control systems.
  • Working knowledge of engineering safety practices, including LOTO, isolation procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Experience supporting utilities and site services such as HVAC, steam generation, purified water systems and compressed air systems.
  • Understanding of electrical controls, automation and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose faults and identify practical engineering solutions.
  • Ability to clearly explain previous engineering responsibilities, equipment maintained and fault-finding activities undertaken.
  • Willingness to work a double-day shift pattern with flexibility when required.
