Job Summary
What you'll do
- Welcome donors and create a supportive atmosphere that promotes confidence and comfort throughout their visit.
- Explain donation procedures, eligibility guidelines, center practices, and the impact plasma donations have on patient treatments.
- Perform blood collection and venipuncture procedures according to established operational and quality standards.
- Prepare donors for collection procedures, including proper site preparation and equipment setup.
- Oversee donors during the plasma collection process and take appropriate action when concerns or reactions arise.
- Operate, inspect, and troubleshoot collection equipment to ensure safe and efficient functionality.
- Respond to machine notifications, process interruptions, and operational issues while maintaining procedure compliance.
- Obtain, identify, and process donor samples accurately following testing and documentation requirements.
- Maintain inventory levels of supplies and ensure collection areas remain fully stocked and organized.
- Enter donor information and collection records into electronic systems with a high level of accuracy.
- Address donor questions, concerns, and service issues in a professional and respectful manner.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain effective donor flow and minimize wait times.
- Escalate operational concerns or workflow challenges to leadership when necessary.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready donation environment.
- Follow all regulatory requirements, quality standards, and center procedures to support compliance.
- Protect sensitive donor information and maintain strict confidentiality standards.
- Contribute to a culture focused on donor safety, quality outcomes, and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications and need-to-know
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; certification required where mandated by state regulations.
- Previous experience performing venipuncture or blood collection procedures preferred.
- Ability to accurately follow written procedures, protocols, and documentation requirements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse donor population.
- Ability to work in a regulated healthcare setting with exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter information into electronic record systems.
