Job Summary

Kedrion Biopharma is seeking a motivated Bioanalytical Scientist to join its Global Manufacturing Scientific Development team in Elstree, Hertfordshire, on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will support scientific projects focused on optimising existing products and developing new plasma-derived products. 
 
This opportunity is suitable for a recent Life Science graduate beginning their scientific career or a scientist with relevant industry experience. You will build practical laboratory expertise, work alongside experienced scientists and contribute to research and development activities within a biopharmaceutical environment. Training and development will be provided as you gain competence across the role. 
 

What you'll do

  • Follow written procedures such as standard operating procedures (SOPs) and study plans  
  • Be trained and become competent to execute a range of analytical methods including: SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, Chromogenic Assay, ELISA, use of equipment e.g. pH and conductivity meters, automated analyser. 
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all experimental work  
  • Buffer preparation and record keeping 
  • Analyse and interpret experimental data, ensuring accuracy and reliability in your results 
  • Troubleshooting experimental procedures and addressing any issues that arise during your tasks 
  • Working closely with industry experts and collaborate with various departments, gaining insights into the interdisciplinary nature of biopharmaceutical research 
  • Exposure to global operations, as Kedrion is a global company 

Qualifications and need-to-know

  • A degree in a relevant Life Science discipline, such as Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biosciences, Forensic Science or a related subject.
  • Evidence of practical laboratory training gained through your degree, academic projects or relevant professional experience.
  • Evidence of scientific or laboratory report writing undertaken during your degree, projects or employment.
  • Knowledge of protein characterisation and protein-analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a laboratory environment.
  • The potential to perform microplate-based analytical techniques accurately and reliably.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications to support documentation, data review, reporting and communication.
